Mantasaly resort is a luxury 4-star resort with a beautiful property and a private bay at the Indian Ocean. It’s a 45-minute drive from Diégo-Suarez Airport and they offer 3 types of accommodation, all very spacious and comfortable, some with sea view. This resort offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday in Madagascar: a nice large swimming pool, bar, wellness, outdoor gym, a playground, private beach and average food with a two-daily changing menu and decent service.

On top of that, they have their own kite centre and kite storage. Mantasaly resort is probably the best kite spot in this area where lots of people stay for 1 or 2 weeks to just enjoy the beach and practice all kinds of water sport activities like kite surfing and kayaking but also snorkelling and spearfishing. The less sportive people will like this place too! It’s a very relaxing property at the beach with a great viewpoint and laid-back vibe from where you can plan several day trips.

I stayed in Mantasaly for a week together with my wife. The purpose of our trip was to kitesurf but we also wanted to stay in a nice resort, so we decided to stay in Mantasaly resort.

The hotel itself is really great. Everything is high quality. Food is good and interior design is really tasteful. Staff are very friendly and the owners make you feel very welcome.

But most importantly, the best kitespot in the area is right in front of the hotel. The hotel has its own kite centre with kite storage, cleaning station etc. The hotel is purpose built for a luxurious kitesurf holiday. On the beach they have beach boys who are well trained and know how to rig, launch, land and pack the gear in the proper way. They are attentive and will quickly come to your rescue if needed.

There are also plenty of places where you can sunbath in shelter from the wind, if you want a break from kitesurfing.

The water in the bay is flat on low tide and choppy on high tide. There are nice waves at the reef. You can also leave the bay and kite to the next bay where there is a nice flatwater spot in front of the mangrove trees. It was windy 24/7 when we were there in the end of September/beginning of October. The wind was maybe 20 knots at the weakest and 35 knots at the strongest. The wind was stable 70% of the time and gusty about 30% of the time. My wife used a 7 sqm on depower and I used a 9 sqm the whole week (I am 93 kg). The hotel also organized a downwinder for us in the emerald sea, which was really amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone planning a kitesurf trip. We are spreading the word about this place to all our kitesurfing friends and we will surely be back soon!

Near the city of Diego Suarez, in the northern part of the main island is where you’ll find the Mantasaly. The resort is a luxury hotel in a land of natural beautiful and pristine and untouched natural surroundings.

Down a long and winding sand road drive the view opens up to a large resort. Although there are only 32 suite, the property is spread out over acres and acres of land. The décor of the property is stunning. A mix of local design, European detail and an exceptional eye for color, décor and style. Local artwork is mixed in with beautiful wall art and paintings and bursts of color in geometric shapes.

The style and comfort continues in the guests rooms which are comfortable in size with bespoke furnishings and bright and fresh colors.

The dining experience is excellent with a friendly chef who is happy to have his guests order off the menu or he can create a meal based on the guest’s preferences. Fresh fish and seafood is skillfully prepared in local style but with gourmet preparation and technique.

This is an active resort with so much to do and see in the area from taking excursions to a nearby island or jungle exploring in the nearby national parks to see lemur and all kinds of exotic wildlife.

First and foremost, the resort is about water sports and in particular kite surfing. This is where lovers of kite surfing who are also at a stage in life seek our luxury accommodations and not a surf tent can enjoy the best of both worlds. I understand that during the season the winds are constant between 20 and 30 knots and are ideal for people who have kite surfed around the world. The resort has all the equipment and facilities for the novice to expert kite surfer.

The resort sits on a massive bay and a barrier reef, so the water and waves are generally smooth. There is not another resort or and development for miles and miles away. Its like they have their own private ocean and there are miles and miles of coastline and mangroves to explore.

Roxana is the general manager and could not be warmer, friendly or welcoming. Her along with her constant companion SiSi as precocious crown lemur are always about the property checking in on guests to make sure there day and trip is going well.

Perfect condition for kitesurfing, with the kitespot on a private beach in the middle of the resort. Excelent food.

All the facilities of the beach to the swiming pool and the food are extraordinary. All the food is extremley tasty and 100% natural ( Fish, Seafood, Beef, chiken, vegetables, fruits)

Beautifull bay area nice constant wind. Acess was difficult 45 min from next village.

Otima estrutura. O Hotel conta com excelentes quartos, muito confortáveis e com bela vista para o mar. O valor das diárias compensam com o conforto e estilo do hotel. O hotel também possui um excelente bar com diversos tipos de cervejas, drinks variados e uma lojinha de presentes e equipamentos de kite surf. Planejamos voltar em 2019.

Nice place for me to have a holiday with my friends,and that is an amazing place for free-diving, spearfishing and snorkelling. And like the well designed of room,and the rooms are very clean.Also the important one is the staff in here is very friendly staff. Excellent experience!!!

What a fantastic holiday we had in this amazing place. One of the best we ever had!!! Everything was just perfect and cool adventure. The resort is very clean and you can feel the love they put in to create such a beautiful unique place with a lot of lovely details all over. The owners and the workers are so friendly that it feels like family. The food is amazing, every day a nice different choice and it’s all natural and really tasty. For kiters it’s a paradies because there’s is always good wind and a perfect spot directly at the resort. You can have flat water spot but also nice waves and they have really good materials from Core. We did a lot of nice excursions with one of the owner of the resort and he showed us the amazing beauty of the nature Madagascar has to offer... nice undiscovered islands, beautiful beaches, landscapes and animals. But this place is also recommended for no kiters, just for relax and enjoy the pure and unique nature. I will definitely come back because there’s so much to discover in Madagascar.

Die Gastgeber haben für uns in dieser Zeit auch unglaubliche Ausflüge zum Erkunden der Gegend, zu Nationalparks und zum Kiten organisiert Freuen uns auf unseren nächsten Urlaub hier!!

The resort is magnificently located on a beautiful bay. The staff and especially the General Manager Roxana is unbelievably friendly and helpful especially for us travelling in Madagascar for the 1st time!

Very peaceful setting. Friendly and helpful staff. Meals freshly cooked with a good choice. We had a wonderful stay and will come back certainly. Everything was really perfect, we recommend this place.

Mantasaly was an unexpected surprise. It takes about 45 minutes to drive there from Diego with the last part of the trip being sand track roads not well marked. If we hadn’t had a local driver I would have gotten lost. The resort is perched on the Indian Ocean side of the northeast tip of Madagascar. Although its prime reason for being is the wind kite surfing, we did not do that. Our cabin was about a 3-minute walk from the main lodge. The cabin, bed, linens, shower, air conditioning and lay-out were sublime. The included continental breakfasts were delicious. The beach is more amenable to the wind sports than swimming, but the hotel pool is large, deep and very relaxing. We especially enjoyed the lookout tower built over the water tank, where watched sun sets and the uncluttered starry Southern-hemisphere sky. The resort hosts were a lively Romanian couple who made you feel welcome. The Malagasy staff was superb. The octopus salad was the best in Madagascar.

Our special thanks to all the staff for making our holiday a fabulous experience in such a beautiful place! Congrats for the fantastic food, wine and delicious lobster dishes! For sure will recommend it to all our friends!

Rado & Roxana run this family owned resort extremely welcoming and friendly. Always keen to help out and to arrange special trips (boat cruise, kajak, kite tour). Makes you feel like staying with friends! Amazing Kite-Spot at the Hotel beach. Rent perfect equipment or bring your own. Employees will help to build up & launch your kite - ViP service at its best!!! Food is amazing... the chef prepares fresh caught fish every day - right from the bay in front of the hotel. The pool table is not 100% even... Romanian engineering results in -1% degree at the upper right hole.

Modern, clean and spacious room. Excellent staff and service. Good water sports activities available, and use of private beach. Good breakfast. Excellent pool.
